A new suite of Christian counselling courses have been fully accredited at Morling College, the college announced yesterday. The approval, from the Department of Education and Training, means that Morling College can now offer even greater opportunity for people to be equipped for ministry.
There are three different levels of accredited programs – the Graduate Certificate in Counselling, the Graduate Diploma of Counselling, and the Master of Counselling.
“These new programs will mean that people can train in more diverse areas” commented Rev Dr Ross Clifford, the Principal of Morling College. “We are committed to partnering with our churches to assist their people have as broad an impact in the community as possible. These programs will be highly suitable for people who want to have a major focus on Christian counselling as ministry, and for those pastors who would like to take one of these courses as a complement to their other theological and pastoral training”.
And it appears that counselling is indeed an area of need in our complex world. More and more of our fellow humans are finding that their lives are driven by forces that do not satisfy the hungers of the heart – and they find their lives becoming filled with shallow alternatives to genuine intimacy.
“We know the need is there, the interest is there, and as Christian counsellors, we want to be there as well” summarised Dr Terry Kohler, Director of Counselling Programs at Morling. ‘‘We have been pleased at the opportunity to develop our programs in this way, and welcome any enquiries from people who are interested in any of the courses.”
Morling College remains committed to equipping pastors, missionaries and others in a context of strong Biblical education, training and care. Interested people in the Counselling courses can contact Morling College on (02) 9878 0201, and ask to speak with Terry Kohler or Neil Harris. Or they can log onto the College website at www.morling.edu.au and go to “Course Information” to follow the prompts to the Counselling courses.
