Melbourne Gospel Choir is passionate about working with World Vision to draw attention to the injustice of human trafficking and put an end to slavery and exploitation, especially of children.
Their vision is one of hope and transformation, their songs uplifting and upbeat, their message confident and full of joy, with inspiring pop-gospel hits like Higher, Freedom and Break the Chains. Traditional gospel classics are enthusiastically covered featuring Swing Low, Joyful, Joyful and This Little Light of Mine.
Highlights of the album include performances by internationally renowned stars Guy Sebastian and Marcia Hines, and the inspirational track Through the Storm written by Choir director Judd Field especially for the Toowoomba Queensland flood victims.
“Here in Victoria, we felt helpless watching the news unfold,” says Judd. “But seeing neighbours and even strangers just pitch in and help sandbag, rescue and clean was moving. Through the Storm was inspired by that Aussie mateship, just being there for your neighbours.”
The Choir was similarly moved by their experience working with Australian vocalist, Guy Sebastian on a gospel mix of Taller, Stronger, Better.
“This was one of those meant-to-be moments. For us, this song was already quite significant as we had actually performed it with Guy live on the TV show It Takes Two.’ Guy has been a supporter of Melbourne Gospel Choir for many years, and it was a special thrill to be able to deepen the relationship further with this album.
Melbourne Gospel Choir is well known around Australia through its regular TV appearances on Dancing With The Stars, It Takes Two, Starstruck, Hey Hey It’s Saturday and the AFL Grand Final.
The Choir has backed nationally and internationally acclaimed artists Delta Goodrem, Westlife, Guy Sebastian, James Morrison, Marina Prior, Marcia Hines, Natalie Bassingthwaighte, Dame Edna Everage, Vanessa Amorosi, Silvie Paladino and David Campbell, to name a few. Its members are successful artists in their own right, including numerous TV performers, theatre stars, and well-known professionals.
