Jesus Racing’s Andrew ‘Fishtail’ Fisher has thrown his weight behind this year’s Compassion Day (tomorrow) Thursday May 12.
Andrew is an ambassador for the International Aid Agency and has travelled to India to witness first-hand the amazing work done by Compassion field workers.
“The trip to India opened my eyes to the enormous number of children needing help worldwide,” says Andrew. “As an ambassador to Compassion I want people to understand that a relatively small donation can make a big difference to a child’s life.”
On Thursday May 12, 40 radio stations across Australia will speak out on behalf of the mothers and babies living in extreme poverty, asking listeners nationwide to commit $29 per month to help families in the developing world.
The national target is for 714 supporters to be signed up on the day.
The Perth round of the Auto One V8 Ute Series saw the bonnet of the Jesus Ute adorned with Compassion’s ‘I Believe… life shouldn’t end at the beginning,” in a bid to raise awareness of this dreadful plight of children living in poverty”
On Compassion Day, Andrew will speak on radio stations right across Australia, encouraging people to give.
“Every day 22,000 children die from preventable illnesses, including influenza and diarrhoea,” says Andrew.
“It’s shocking to know that so many of these deaths can be stopped by just a simple donation.”
