Well-Being Australia is delighted that the ‘ Basil Sellers Art Gallery ’ in Moruya on the New South Wales south coast is to incorporate conference rooms with the planned relocation adjacent to ‘Basil Sellers House’.
‘Basil Sellers House’ is a respite facility where Canberra-based athletes from the Australian Institute of Sport visit. The associated ‘Basil Sellers Art Centre’ opened in 2003, and is currently situated on the far side of the 10 acre allotment which was an integral part of ‘ Australia ’s Bush Orchestra’.
‘Australia ’s Bush Orchestra’ was the major focus of modelling a low profile but highly valued tourism ministry. This natural bush theme park, with a walk through an ironbark forest under the sound of birdsong, offered many occasions for informal conversation.
“These three concurrent activities functioned for some years while my wife Delma and I lived there,” said Well-Being Australia chairman Mark Tronson. “However, when we relocated to the Tweed on the north coast of New South Wales at the end of 2005, the practical workings of this complex required redefining. This has now been completed.”
This ministry functional analysis by Well-Being Australia ’s Kim Gillis has been greatly applauded by the national board, and has three structural redirections so as to optimise ‘outcomes’.
“The Basil Sellers Art Centre in this new situation will have glass panels incorporated overlooking the Deua National Park , art will be retained on the far walls and its floor space realigned as a conference room facility,” M V Tronson explained.
Mr Basil Sellers referred to this with one word, “Sensational”! The second structural aspect is already functioning: the large shed has been lined and turned into a games room with table tennis, a pool table, quoits and darts.
“The third aspect has also been implemented. The tourism ministry has been reinvented as a valuable resource agency, building on the groundwork of effective outreach demonstrated during the 10 years that Australia’s Bush Orchestra functioned,” M V Tronson, a Baptist Minister continued.
These three realignments of Well-Being Australia ’s ministry in Moruya have engaged the notion that nothing is static and that continual reassessment and analysis is required for optimum outcomes.
“These processes have been a major focus by Well-Being Australia , and are continually being illustrated. For example, in 2001 the cricket ministry’s ‘Life After Cricket’ was established and in 2007 the respite facilities have been opened to the cricket family as ‘Cricket family respite’” explained M V Tronson.
Well-Being Australia is encouraging Christian missions and churches to engage with confidence in their own reassessment and analysis. Just as there was no one single pattern for church governance and operation in the New Testament, so too there is no ‘best model’ today. New ideas and opportunities also need to be considered as society’s expectations are continually changing.
