Art show in week-day Cafe run by church!

Tweed Heads: The Banora Point Baptist Church three years ago opened their doors to the public with a week-day Cafe. The church is conveniently situated near several large stores that sell household and handyman items in Tweed Heads South, and has taken advantage of this by opening a commercially successful cafe.

‘Desires Cafe’ serves morning teas and lunches, using the services of paid personnel, church volunteers and agency volunteer helpers. The patronage includes the staff of the nearby businesses, the school and fire station nearby as well as the many customers who visit the commercial area.

Well-Being Australia's Art Ministry, co-ordinated by artist Tronson du Coudray, has held regular art exhibitions in resorts and restaurants and thought that the church where his own family worships might be an ideal location for an art show.

“I approached the minister, the Reverend Ian Aylward, with a plan,” comments Mark Tronson, Chairman of Well-Being Australia. “ The idea is to capture the lunch-time patrons who come to ‘Desires Cafe’. The art works will be handsomely displayed; some on easels and some on free standing dividers.”

Reverend Aylward enthusiastically endorsed this plan, and the art show gets its launch by Tweed Shire Mayor Warren Polglase after church on Sunday morning 21st March 11.30am, after which the paintings will be on display each week day Monday to Friday during the lunch period from 12noon to 1.30pm.

The paintings that Tronson du Coudray has chosen for the exhibition focus on three different styles - seascapes, sport and abstract images that show 'art can convey messages' that are so often inadequate with humble words..

M V Tronson, painting as Tronson du Coudray - the missionary painter, has used commissions from his art works as the mainstay of his fund raising for Well-Being Australia 'Country Town Tour' mission projects. His latest sale was to a Brazilian businessman passing through the Gold Coast, who saw the advertisement for the Art Ministry in the Gold Coast Visitors Guide.

This March 21-26 art show is a combined fund raiser for Well-Being Australia and the local SRE (School Religious Education).
