The Rev Fred Nile, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party has condemned Bill Henson’s photographs of innocent, nude children and his scouting for victims in Victorian Primary Schools.
“I am amazed that Sue Knight, a Primary School Principal in Melbourne, would allow Bill Henson to prowl her school selecting children for his future sensual, nude photographs” said Rev Fred Nile.
“I congratulate his main defender, David Marr, for his consistency, because as patron of the indecent Homosexual Mardi Gras he is not offended by near-naked teenagers and topless lesbians parading through the streets of Sydney. Obviously he would not be offended by Bill Henson’s photographs which are really child pornography” said Rev Fred Nile MLC.
Even Bill Henson’s defenders have admitted his photography of naked children is disturbing. Art Centre critic Robert Nelson admits ‘I find the pictures a bit creepy’.
“In an interview with Arts Presenter Leo Schofield, Schofield described his photographs as being of ‘high eroticism’. Bill Henson did not disagree.
“We must draw the line with Bill Hanson’s photographs as child pornography, otherwise it makes our child pornography laws a mockery.
“As the MP who successfully campaigned for the child pornography law in the Wran era, I feel very strongly about any attempt to water down these laws which are designed to protect vulnerable children” warned Reverend Fred Nile MLC.
