Blackburn Surprise United!!!

Manchester United had the chance to go ahead of Manchester City with a home fixture against bottom of the table Blackburn. Blackburn however didn’t read the script and went ahead early. After the break, Rovers doubled their lead before Untied rallied and went level with 20 minutes remaining. Rover however, took one of few chances with 9 minutes remaining to cause one of the biggest upsets of the season.

Manchester City played on New Years day knowing a win would give them a 3 point lead at the top however Sunderland were not in the mood to lye down and stole the points with an injury time winner to ensure City and United to be level going into the New Year.

In other New Year fixtures Villa upset Chelsea at the Bridge with a 3-1 win. Villa scored late on to end Chelsea’s calendar year in big trouble and close to missing out on a top 4 position. Liverpool were too strong for Newcastle at home winning 3-1 whilst Wigan and Stoke played out an entertaining 2-2 draw. Everton won away 1-0 at West Brom and Bolton and Wolves shared the points at the Reebok.

There are further fixtures midweek and some of the results started with Swansea upsetting Villa 2-0 at Villa Park. Fulham upset Arsenal at home whilst Norwich won the battle of the promotion teams, beating QPR 2-1. Chelsea put there bad form behind them with a 2-1 win at Wolves whilst Stoke won a tough trip away at Blackburn.
