City maintain lead!

Manchester City kicked off Super Sunday with a dramatic encounter with Tottenham in Manchester. Superstar Balotelli was again in the headlines after allegedly stamping on Scot Parker and then scoring in the dying seconds to give City an enthralling 3-2 win to all but end Spurs hopes of winning the Premier League.

Manchester United played straight after City’s victory and new nothing short of 3 points would be good enough as they travelled to Arsenal in a must win game for both teams. United started well and scored early before Van Persie levelled late in the 2nd half however it was a local boy Wellbeck who stole the headlines with a late winner to keep United only 3 points off leaders and nearest rivals City.

Saturdays fixtures included a fantastic derby with Wolves and Aston Villa. Both teams played well and the game could have gone either way however it was an old Wolves player Kean who scored 2 second half goals to give Villa all 3 points in a 3-2 win away from home for Villa.

Relegation battles were the pick of Saturdays games with Bolton surprising Liverpool 3-1 at home, QPR won a 6 pointer 3-1 at home to struggling cellar dwellers Wigan whilst West Brom won 2-1 away at Stoke City. Fulham thumped hapless Newcastle 5-2 at the Cottage while Everton and Blackburn shares the spoils with a 1 all draw at Goodison. Norwich and Chelsea played out a scoreless draw and Sunderland kept their fantastic form under Martin O’neill with a 2-0 home win over Swansea.
