Your prayers for safety are always needed. And they have been answered. Two staff were in Binza all last week, supervising the Prevention of Mother to Child Transmission (HIV) programme, and they were under God’s protection. They narrowly missed an attack by Interahamwe (FDLR) on the town of Nyamilima and surrounding villages. They were called in as extra hands to deal with the wounded people crowding the hospital. Several people were killed. There is a MONUC base at Nyamilima and this killing was going on right beside them and they did not stir out of their base.

On the way back they spent the night in Kiwanja. It is the season of harvesting beans, and the Interahamwe came down to loot the fields. This time, the Congolese army (FARDC) did fight back. Please continue to pray for the population trying to rebuild their lives.

Dr Jo Lusi, co-founder of HEAL Africa and the only orthopaedic surgeon in Eastern Congo, has started a Bible study with the doctors each Monday afternoon, going through The purpose driven life. They are very enthusiastic and it is building a motivated team, both specialists and young residents.

Please keep praying for an end to the violence in Eastern DRC. Read more on CNEC’s website - www.cnecpi.com.au
