Spain have done what no European country has done before and gone on to successfully win 2 European Championships whilst also winning the World Cup in-between. Spain have been labelled boring during this tournament however with a thumping 4-0 win, they proved all their critics wrong with a powerful display against a tired Italy, to show why they are the best team in the world.

For Spain to get to the final, they had to overcome a stubborn Portugal side and destroy Portuguese hopes of having a dream Final appearance. Ronaldo was the danger during the match as it finished goalless and went to Penalties. Ronaldo, who was Portugals best player by a long way, was the villain this time as he decided to take the 5th penalty and subsequently missed out on taking 1 when 2 Portugal players missed from the spot, leaving Spain to attempt the 3 majors in 4 years.

Italy were the surprise packed of the tournament, knocking out England is the quarter finals, then followed up by claiming the tournaments favourite Germany, going through 2-1 with Bolotelli starring with a brace. The Germans could only muster up a goal late on in injury time but it was too little too late, as Italy went through to the Final with high hopes of repeating their 2006 World Cup Title. However this was Spain’s year again, as the Spaniards were just too strong and fully deserve the plaudits as they now aim to complete a remarkable decade by looking to defend their World Cup heroics and win back to back World Cups.
