Opportunity International is marking the UN International Day for the Eradication of Poverty through its ‘Cappuccino for a Cause’ campaign that will run in Gloria Jean’s Coffee stores cross Australia. The campaign is aimed to raise funds for its poverty alleviation programs in Indonesia, one of the sources for Gloria Jean’s coffee beans.
On October 16 and 17, Gloria Jean’s Coffees will be contributing 50 cents from every cappuccino or iced cappuccino to Opportunity International Australia, which is raising funds for its Indonesia microenterprise development programs.
Opportunity International Australia, established in 1971 is a non-profit organisation that uses a business approach to solve the problem of poverty. Rather than a hand-out, it provide people living in poverty with a small loan to help them start or grow their own small business. Enabling them to earn a regular income so they no longer have to struggle to afford food, clean water, proper shelter or an education for their children.
