Hundreds of motorcyclists will be taking to the streets of Manchester as they join forces once again with The Salvation Army for its annual Motorbike Toy Run.

Motorcyclists, complete with their safety gear and leathers, will be collecting quality new toys to be donated to help brighten up the Christmas of needy children across the city.

The bikers will also be collecting cash donations to buy new gifts for children who might otherwise not receive a toy this year.

And with this year being the 10th anniversary event, even more motorbike enthusiasts from across Manchester and beyond are expected to take part.

A wide range of machines will form a procession from The Salvation Army's Wilmott Street Social Services Centre, in Wilmott Street, Chorlton-on-Medlock, Manchester, and travel to the city's Trafford Shopping Centre where the mountain of toys will be gathered.

Over the years, thousands of toys have been collected by the bikers as part of the Motorbike Toy Run which has quickly established itself as a key date in the local motorcyclist's calendar.

The Motorbike Toy Run takes place on Saturday 10 November 2007. Registration takes place at The Salvation Army's Wilmott Street Centre with breakfast from 9am.

The motorcyclists will then assemble at Wilmott Street for 11am and leave at 11.05am. They are expected to arrive at the Trafford Centre for noon.

The toys will then be presented following a short carol service and music by The Salvation Army Band.
