Nation’s Favourite Hymns to Appear on New Album

|TOP|The classical hymn ‘Jerusalem’ has been selected as one of the most popular songs by listeners of Premier Christian Radio.

Jon Christos has recently released a new rendition of the Church favourite, and due to the song’s overwhelming popularity it is now appearing on the exclusive album ‘A Treasury of Hymns’ produced by Premier and Gordon Lorenz (famous for his work with Charlotte Church).

A Treasury of Hymns was released on 8th May, and Jon Christos will perform the hit track Jerusalem live at the Heineken Rugby Cup Final on 20th May.

The album will also include ‘Swing Low, Sweet Chariot’ performed by the Morriston Orpheus Choir, as well as the classical hymns ‘Abide with Me’ and ‘I Vow to Thee my Country’.

Lorenz has called in members of Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and Manchester Camerata to perform alongside select musicians on A Treasury of Hymns, which he plans to be the first in a series of Premier Signature productions.

|AD|Lorenz said, “This unique recording can have no better title than 'A Treasury of Hymns' for it sets out to create, not simply a selection of hymns, but to appeal to both churchgoers and those who may not attend a place of worship but for whom certain hymns evoke a special memory.”

Premier's decision to create an album of hymns was strongly influenced by the radio station's listeners, who enjoy programmes such as Pam Rhodes' Hearts and Hymns and John Pantry's Inspirational Breakfast.

“We came to realise that our listeners wanted to hear both modern and classical versions of hymns but were only able to access them through shows like Hearts and Hymns. That's when we decided to give them a collection of hymns they most enjoyed. The result was A Treasury of Hymns,” said Premier Radio.

Gathering a host of modern and traditional UK artistes including Amici Forever and Coronation Street's Shobna Gulati, Lorenz has attempted to create a collection of timeless favourites that will appeal to music lovers across the UK.
