Australia's Mark and Delma Tronson have been officially notified that they are the recipients of ‘2008 RIGHT TRACK INTERNATIONAL AWARD’ presented annually to the individual or ministry most responsible for impacting the world’s youth for Christ.
The Award will be presented Monday, February 16, 2009 in the elegant Grand Ballroom of the Dallas/Fort Worth Airport Marriott located in Irving, Texas, USA. The scheduled Twentieth Awards Banquet is formal (Black Tie & Gown) and the entire evening’s program is run with all the razza-ma-tazz of the US film Logies, and are a highlight of the US and International Christian Athlete Calendar.
The 'Olympian of the Century', Carl Lewis has been the front-man for Lay Witnesses for Christ (LWFCI) since before the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics. He along with NBC Sports Lewis Johnson (Beijing Trackside Announcer) will be presenting the focal Award during the RIGHT TRACK Prevention Programs Twentieth Christian Athlete Awards for some two and a half million USA high school student athletes.
Executive Directors of the 20th Awards Banquet is Dr. Sam and Sharon Mings the founders & president of Lay Witnesses for Christ International. They have devoted their lives to ministering to athletes, and have presented what the Lord has orchestrated to be the most high profile Christian outreach beginning at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
This Lay Witnesses’ ministry model has stood the test of time as August 17, 2008 ‘EVENING WITH THE STARS’ at the XXIX Olympiad in Beijing was the ministry's seventh consecutive opportunity for a mighty proclamation to go forth from the Olympic Host City.
Over this past three weeks Dr. Sam Mings and his team have been at the Beijing Olympics where they not only continued their on-going 30 year ministry to the world's athletes, but saw the miracle of an event everyone said would never happen – the 'Evening of the Stars' – which did take place in Beijing! The Olympian of the Century – Carl Lewis for the Seventh Olympics was an enormous draw card for Christ.
The American philosophy that 'winners are grinners' and 'winning grinners are celebrated' with 'fan fare and national honour' emerges in every sphere of the culture, not least in athleticism and its various off-shoots. Sam and Sharon Mings have unashamedly extended this fanfare to athletes who are proud of following the Christian way.
Sam Mings and Mark Tronson have ministry philosophies that are so similar and have demonstrated such ministry resilience. Both ministries exhibit a 'little dose of eccentricity', which is shown, Sam claims, as the Lord did not allow their paths to cross until nine years ago after twenty years of refining fire.
