The Rock Across Australia (TRAA), a suite of music charts which provides an overview of musical activities within the Australian Christian community, named contemporary Christian music mainstay Newsboys as the 2007 Artist of the Year.
Newsboys had spent 13 weeks on top of the TRAA music chart and their song, entitled ‘Something Beautiful,’ was also named Song of the Year. This is the first time Newsboys has earned the TRAA honours.
The internationally acclaimed Aussie pop-rock quarter was formed two decades ago and now resides in the USA where it had achieved phenomenal international success. Over the span of their musical career, the band earned: five gold albums, sales of their albums exceeded one million units, they received more than 20 radio hits, and they received a mantle of Dove Awards and Grammy nominations.
Next March, Newsboys will return to Australia for a series of concerts in Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne, and Toowoomba.
TRAA compiles its weekly charts from playlists supplied by more than 20 of the nation’s largest Christian stations including FM103.2 (Sydney), Light FM (Melbourne), 96Five (Brisbane), Life FM (Adelaide), Sonshine FM (Perth), 96Three (Geelong), and the Vision Radio Network (national).
