The Reverend Hon Fred Nile MLC, Leader of the Christian Democratic Party and ex Uniting Church Minister, has condemned the heretical media campaign to be launched by the Melbourne City St Michael’s Uniting Church, under the leadership of Rev Dr Francis Macnab.

“I strongly condemn this heretical media campaign, based on the anti-Christian theological doctrine of the so-called ‘Jesus Seminar’, which perhaps should be more correctly called ‘The Devil’s Seminar,’” said Rev Fred Nile.

The Reverend Fred Nile resigned from the Uniting Church over its policy of ordaining practising homosexual men. He transferred to the Evangelical Congregational Churches, FCC.

Dr Macnab has announced he is the author of a ‘new faith’ which declares Jesus Christ was only a peasant and not the Son of God, that Abraham was not a real person but a concoction, that Moses was a mass murderer, that there is no god in the usual sense of an interventionist deity and the Ten Commandments are too negative.

“Therefore, if Dr Macnab is correct the millions of sincere Christians who pray daily to our Almighty God are wasting their time!

St Michael’s Uniting Church is promoting this old modernism from the 19th Century with a $120,000 campaign over several months involving newspaper and radio advertising, the Internet, banners and billboards.

“I reject completely Dr Macnab’s statement that ‘at the Jesus Seminar we are inclined to think there is a real Jesus, but we don’t know much about him’. I urge Dr Macnab to prayerfully read the New Testament, especially the Gospel of John and restore his faith in Jesus Christ, as Lord and Saviour,” advised Rev Fred Nile.

“I also urge him to read the valuable publication ‘The Birth of Christianity: The First Twenty Years’ by Sydney Bishop Paul Barnett (Eerdmans, Grand Rapids USA) which completely refutes the foolish unbelief of the Jesus Seminar” said Reverend Fred Nile, a true defender of the Faith.
