Mexico City, Saturday, August 2, 2008 (ALC) - The Rev. Abner López Pérez, director of the Bible Society of Mexico, has been recognized by the Mexican Leaders magazine – an interviews publication – as being one of the “300 most influential persons in Mexican society.”
In its category of civil organizations, the magazine points out the altruistic work of the Evangelical pastor, considering him to be a “leader” in recognition of the distribution of over a million copies of the Bible in just one year and its translation into various dialects, which has contributed to improving the life of Mexican society.
The magazine highlights the work of those persons who have had the most influence on Mexican society, by publishing a summary each year that includes the personal information and profile of those persons it considers as being “outstanding” because of their work heading an organization, business, or their contribution to society.
In addition to Pastor Abner López, the magazine recognizes Mexican President Felipe Calderón Hinojosa, businessman Carlos Slim Helú, author Carlos Monsiváis and journalist Joaquín López Dóriga, among others.
Each year the magazine evaluates those persons who have stood out because of the influence of their work in Mexico. It carries out surveys and opinion polls among its readers and specific sectors considered to be “important sectors in the decision making processes,” for the selection of the “leaders” in each category.
This is the first time that a secular publication of this level, has recognized the national leadership of an Evangelical pastor who heads an organization dedicated exclusively to the propagating of the Bible, considered as being a book that can change the value system of a society.
