A Worldview student discovered God could use her in church planting despite being a learner. Worldview is WEC's training centre in Launceston.
Worldview intern Grace made a personal impact while spending three months in an Asian country.
Her expectations were not high.
“To be honest, with no language or much knowledge of the people group I thought my three months would be pure observation of what ‘mission’ was all about,” Grace said.
“I had little expectation of actually being seriously involved.”
But God had other ideas and opened the doors to people through an English centre.
“I became the friend of a girl, Belinda, who would come into the centre every week to chat and share about her life as a young Muslim student at the Uni.”
“We would talk about everything from her classes to her boyfriend problems, and often about faith; her faith in Islam and mine in Jesus.”
“Belinda would bring her Chinese Koran and we would have discussions over its teaching and I would be able to share about what the Bible says too.”
Belinda wanted to know how faith impacted Grace’s life.
“She always wanted to know what I thought and wanted to know how being a Christian affected my life.”
“I had a general sense that she was dissatisfied with the answers she was getting from her faith.”
She seemed to feel very pressured about a lot of things and wanted to know how I dealt with things.”
Grace left China with Belinda still searching.
“There was a real yearning for a personal God who can impact their ‘day-to-day’ and make a personal difference.”
“I feel very privileged to have been there to share my story and just allow God to reach Belinda through what he has done for me.”
Grace is a third year student at Worldview and is looking at opportunities to serve God in the future.
